Nigerian music star Davido has instructed his legal professionals to sue over an April Idiot’s joke that has spectacularly backfired.

The prank story alleged that Afrobeats singer had been arrested in Kenya after cocaine was discovered on his non-public jet.

The 31-year-old, who has simply completed an East African tour, stated the pretend report was “extraordinarily irresponsible”.

“I’ve by no means been arrested by anybody in any nation for any crime on this planet,” he stated on social media.

The April Idiot’s story – first printed by Kenya’s K24 TV on Monday – went viral on social media.

The Nigerian megastar, who had simply carried out to packed audiences on the Timeless Live performance in Kampala and Raha Fest in Nairobi, stated it led to him receiving a barrage of calls.

Such was the backlash that Kenya’s Directorate of Prison Investigations (DCI) tweeted a screengrab of the headline with “Faux Information” stamped throughout it mid-morning on Monday.

“I wish to guarantee my followers that these experiences are completely unfaithful. I efficiently accomplished my scheduled reveals in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned dwelling to Nigeria,” Davido stated on Tuesday.

“I discover the fabrication of allegations of such worldwide crimes extraordinarily irresponsible whatever the mild of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is searching for authorized recourse in opposition to the media events liable for producing this misinformation.”

K24 TV has not responded to Davido’s transfer to provoke authorized motion.

Many Kenyans felt the prank was inappropriate, however some have been commenting on social media that they hope the debacle may be resolved amicably.
